About Natural Skin Care:
Natural skincare products utilizes ingredients made from flowers, roots and herbs. Any additional elements used in these products, such as preservatives and emulsifiers should be naturally derived from plant extracts.

A good example of a natural skincare product has a natural preservative, and contains a combination of natural ingredients such as Rose extract, sesame oil and other essential oils to give the skin a natural glow and smoothness. Birch leaves, red clover and horsetail also contain antioxidants, to help skin fight against free radicals and retain your skin's youthfulness.

Knowing what to look for when purchasing your beauty products will help you determine if the product is natural or not. One rule is if you can pronounce or identify it, then it probably is a chemical that you need to stay clear of. Here are some ingredients to stay away from when buying skincare products. These are synthetic chemicals which can be very harmful to your skin.

 Parabens which are preservatives that are usually used in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Some parabens are: Methyl, propyl, butyl, and ethyl. These compounds are used because they are low cost and long lasting but studies have shown that they are also carcinogens. Parabens have been linked to cancer.
 Alcohol dries out the skin and strips away the natural oils produced in it. Some plants carries mild alcohol which may not be able to be extracted easily. Wheat is an example of a plant that has a low content of mild achohol and has not been found to be harmful. Products with these alcoholic contents are harmful to the skin: Ethanol, ethyl alcohol, methanol, benzyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol and SD alcohol
 Imidazolidinyl Urea and Diazolidinyl Urea are preservatives that are toxic to the skin.
 Petrolatum is mostly used in lip glosses and lipsticks, but have been discovered to interfere with the body's own moisture making process thus leading to dry chapped skin.
 Stearalkonium Chloride is a chemical used in hair products and creams. Originally developed as a fabric softener this chemicals is found to cause adverse allergies.

Here are some natural products to look for in your products

 Essential oils like avocado, olive, jojoba etc.
 Plant extracts such as rose, chamomile, calendula etc
 Natural preservatives like grapefruit seed extract, citric acid, sodium chloride (salt), bee propolis etc.

There are many chemicals used in products which say they are natural skincare products that are harmful to your skin and as mentioned before, one rule is if you can’t identify, don't buy.
