The Biography of the English rock band called Whitesnake begins with its founder David Coverdale in 1978. The core line-up worked as Coverdale's backing band. In the early days, the music was mainly blues rock which Coverdale often described as "progressive R&B". During this time, the Whitesnake was made up of Coverdale, Bernie Marsden, Neil Murray, Micky Moody, Brian Johnston (keyboardist) and David Dowle (drummer). Johnstone was soon replaced by Pete Solley (keyboardist) and Procol Harun (organ player). Solley was nevertheless replaced by Jon Lord.

. Whitesnake- Live at Donington 1990 (3-LP) 2011: The 2011 special edition-box set offers one DVD and two CDs. The August 18, 1990 album was recorded in Donington, in front of a crowd of 72,500 fans. The album captures a blend of the heavy metal and melodic hard rock era.
. Whitesnake- Sunburst Years from 1978 to 1982: The box set contains one DVD, 9CDs, a color poster, 90-page hardcover book and a 7-inch white vinyl EP. The album features 5-studio recordings, two live albums released between 1978 & 1982, 2-live albums, which were recorded in 1979, and 1980, for BBC & UK reading Rock Festivals, respectively.
. Whitesnake- Ready an' Willing (Vinyl) 2010: The new lineup recorded the album in 1980, which became an instant hit in the UK and US. In the UK, it was ranked top 10 and 100 in the US Billboard.
Whitesnake- Live in the Heart of the City (2-LP) 2011: The album was recorded to live in 1982 and re-mastered digitally in 2007, making it the latest album in their biography.
